OMG DID YOU HEAR AT THE XBOX ONE ANNOUNCEMENT THAT THE NEW COD:G HAS A MOCAPPED DOG?

I was rather unimpressed with the XBONE announcement, but I have to just assume that the games are coming, and I mean, who am I to kid, I am probably going to buy one. And I bet it’ll be awesome. And I bet I’ll love that stupid mocapped dog.

“Gravity Falls Rap 2.0″ [free tunes]

Adam WarRock & Vince Vandal “Gravity Falls Rap 2.0″
(Download MP3 – right-click save as)

Beat produced by Vince Vandal
Original theme by Brad Breeck

It’s been almost a year since I released my Gravity Falls rap song. Some backstory, I actually wrote the song while at Connecticon 2012. I basically got the idea, emailed Vince and strongarmed him into making me a quick scratch beat, and then recorded a scratch version of the song in my hotel room during the con with my iphone headphones. I got home, recorded it for real, and it’s now one of the most listened-to things I’ve ever released.

I wrote that song probably when the show was at about 4 episodes? Since then, a whole slew of new episodes have come out, and Gravity Falls continues to be incredible. Since then, I’ve gotten to talk with the whole Internet fan community of the show, including contributing  my own bit of geeky fandom in the form of this podcast, which has since turned into some kind of weird animation/nostalgia show. I also was in LA, and got to visit the studio where they make the show.  I’m as huge a fan of Gravity Falls as could be, and my only complaint is that I wish it was on more often.

I wrote some new lyrics a while ago (around the episode “Fight Fighters”) and recorded them, while Vince had a chance to tweak his scratch beat. So take this song, and let’s celebrate this great show and just party and have a good time.

“The Six” [free tunes]

sixth

So it was network upfronts last week, and I’m sure most comics fans have probably all heard that NBC passed on Cullen Bunn and Brian Hurtt’s The Sixth Gun. This, coming on the heels of learning that Chew’s off the table, just adds to a long line of comic book adaptations that just haven’t really seen a lot of good news (Powers, Wonder Woman, Preacher, et al.). Which is complete garbage, because with the backing of people like Carlton Cuse (Lost) and a pretty awesome cast, it seemed like an obvious choice in a world that is admittedly, pretty open to being exposed to a) zombies (The Walking Dead); b) cowboy-esque dramas (Deadwood); and c) comic-based things (everything).

Apparently, it’s still got some zombie-esque life still in it, as people connected with the pilot have been saying, and there’s a chance that it could still be picked up by another network or a cable network. So I made a song in support, and in the hopes, that we will one day get to see The Sixth Gun on television. And as a shout-out and a thank you to all-around nice guys Cullen Bunn and Brian Hurtt, for continuing to make such an amazing comic.

What’s that? You haven’t read The Sixth Gun?

Shoutouts to seeing that Chew TV show someday too.

“Superior” [Marvel NOW! Week - free tunes]

Every day, a new song about a different Marvel NOW! Title
M: “Hawkguy”  [Hawkeye]
Tu: “Godbomb” [Thor: God of Thunder]
W: “Indestructible” [Indestructible Hulk]
Th: “Murdered You” [GoTG]

If you told me a year ago, that my two favorite titles in all of comics would be a story where Doc Ock was in Peter Parker’s body, and the original 5 X-Men were back from the past, I’d have said, first of all, those ideas are stupid; and second of all, you’re crazy. But sure enough, my two favorite titles whenever it’s new comics day are Superior Spider-Man and All New X-Men (shout outs to Bendis’s GREAT All New X-Men…I’ve made enough X-Men songs lately, but check that title out. It’s amazing).

I know some people have complaints, and I wouldn’t even argue that they’re not legitimate, that you don’t want to see a ruthless Spidey, that this concept is possibly a step too far for our delicate comic sensibilities. But in a weird way, they’re making a legitimate case that Otto may actually be better  at this crime-fighting thing than Peter was, which in turn gives Slott a chance to really explore what actually makes someone a hero. I personally find that pretty fascinating, and the fact that we get to see Otto sort of learning how to be “good,” albeit in his own way, is a really engaging way to sort of refresh Spidey’s origin story (got bit, got powers, etc.).

If I can close out this week with any sentiment, it’s this: comics are good right now. I was a guy who was buying trades and rereading old nostalgia pieces for YEARS, and I was a comic fan. And since Marvel NOW!’s launch, I have turned into a weekly issue buyer again. I’m EXCITED to read comics, and even when I’m done with all the titles I love, I start to pick up other ones and realize that I dig them too.

Comics are GOOD everyone. And for years, they were kinda…lacking. But they’re GOOD, and there’s all these movies coming out, and a SHIELD TV show. Seriously, we are living the high life y’all. So let’s all just celebrate that for a second.

Have a great weekend everyone…

In MYYY DAYYY, I read Guardians of the Galaxy on old parchment. But no seriously, I was a huge fan of the Guardians of the Galaxy series from the 90s, when it was about a team from the 31st century and Vance Astro was Marvel Boy from an alternate dimension (uhh, Earth-691 *snort*) and he held Cap’s shield. God, it was weird, and awesome. So imagine my surprise when they announced that one of the Phase 2 Marvel movies would be GoTG. As expected, one of the big titles from Marvel NOW! was a GoTG relaunch by Bendis and McNiven, and I’m totally excited to see where it goes. Bonus points if you can bring Charlie-27 into it somehow.

Also, allow this to officially get everyone off of my back about writing a Rocket Raccoon song. I swear, that guy and Squirrel Girl, people email and message me about the most. So here. Are you happy?

I should also say, thank you to Matt Fraction, David Aja, and Jason Aaron for tweeting/blogging about my songs this week. Go follow them on the twitters.

Tomorrow: All good things [and people] come to an end?
