And remember, if you want to hire me for a song for any reason, please email me. I’m very reasonable, and I work very fast.

What More Can I Say? May 24, 2010

Wow. What more can I say? Thank you so much to everyone for the kind words of support. I’ve had a major upheaval in my day to day life for various reasons, and I’m taking some time to kinda relax, get centered, and just get really, really drunk a lot.

June 1st, I’m coming back for that ass with a vengeance. But until then, just thanks again. Man, when I said 2010 was going to be a big year, I had…no freaking idea.

TrackLog 48 – Yes I Quit May 17, 2010

Posted by A. WarRock in : Tracklog , 11comments

Yes, I quit. Well, not officially. But let’s just say that I started the slow process of putting in my official “take this job and shove it.” I was already planning on leaving at the end of the year; and some events at work today made me up that timetable big time. I basically pulled a “….yeah, I think I quit” in the middle of getting yelled at. It was empowering and terrifying and awesome and horrible all at the same time. So of course I made a song about it.

I’m not totally sure what’s next in life, but I know it’s not being a lawyer, at least for a while. I’ll be focusing on music, on touring, on recording more, and expanding with some business opportunities I have with some very good friends. It’s exciting and frightening at the same time, I’ve spent my entire life trying to get a career job, only to realize that I don’t want it. Or rather, I never, ever thought that I could make a living off of what I love doing. I’m just glad I realized it before it was too late, right?

I don’t necessarily recommend everyone be as impulsive as me. I know people have bills, have kids, have mortgages, sometimes you’re stuck in a job that you don’t love. But allow me to tell everyone out there who has the freedom to do it. It is never, ever too late. It is never impossible to do what you love and make it a part of your career. And you will never get those years back that you spent at a job you hate. Seriously. Email me if you want me to tell you this personally, I will convince you personally that you can do what you love in some capacity. Adam WarRock believes in you.

As for me, I have no idea when my stop date is. But I can say that I’m glad that I’m done with this phase of my life, and eager to see the next one. I hope you’re all ready for it. I’m bringing the thunder, goddamnit.

Cuz You Can’t Spell Adam without…. May 16, 2010

Atom? Pour a lil liquor out for my boy, Ryan Choi.

Anyway, some news and updates. I want to say that first of all, thanks to everyone who voted in the poll I posted on the site about live shows. I have been contacted by a few, and am in contact with a few others in what looks to be like a potential series of dates sometime this fall/winter along the East Coast. Specifically, Boston, NY, Memphis and Atlanta. So if you’re anywhere close to those cities, stay tuned. If not, well…all I can really say right now is stay tuned and there may be some big news in the future about me making it to more cities sometime in 2011.

The album is one track away from being finished; and then we’ll have the whole rough draft complete. I’ve booked a flight to Ruckus’s studio in July, and hopefully after that the “Ira Glass” single will be out in August, the album in September. Exciting, ain’t it? Already got a production co. lined up, a quote from an engineer for sound mastering, and am cracking the whip on Birdie and Rusty on the artwork.

As for this site, thanks to everyone who’s emailed me about doing tracks for them. Remember! If you need a track for a podcast or your blog, email me and we can talk. Or hell, if you just want a song about whatever, I’m available. I am looking to maybe do some different things with the Tracklog once it hits #50, so stay tuned to a possible changeup in the site’s M.O. after that.

And last but not least, I should hopefully have some Adam WarRock tshirts available for purchase sometime this summer. I’m very, very excited to tell you that Jen Vaughn, artist of Mermaid Hostel and all around bad-ass, is designing two shirt designs for me to have up on this site soon. I’ve recently gotten to know Jen through random happenstance, and I pretty much wanted her to do the tshirt designs from the first few conversations we had, after already seeing her great work on Mermaid Hostel and her other works. So hooray!

Hopefully new song up on the TrackLog this week. Otherwise, I am going back in my cave to scribble out this last song and deliver you the goods. Thanks again for the support, guys.

TrackLog 47 – Egocentric May 9, 2010

Posted by A. WarRock in : Tracklog , add a comment

Look, I’ll be frank with you guys. I’ve been listening to a LOT of Beyonce for some strange reason lately. So I wanted to do a song to one of her beats. I chose “Ego,” and a big ups goes to Brandon who gave me the idea to use the track.

Rapping is such a silly thing sometimes, that you almost have be delusionally confident to the point where you’re basically a complete prick in your head. Yet, performing, recording, it’s always a humbling act, because you come to the mic and realize you can’t say everything you basically thought you could when you were writing it in your head. A weird dissonance.

It’s more attempts of me with a double-time flow, which I’m sorta okay with but still trying to get a handle on how to write and deliver it. Also, that freestyle at the end. Whew, not really the best off the top am I? Ah well.

I’d like to perform a couple of smaller, intimate live shows just to kinda show my face in public and say raps and swears for you. If you are lucky, you’ll see me perform the worm. If you would like to see such a sight for your eyes, please vote in this poll:

Recap-a-tat-tat May 8, 2010

Posted by A. WarRock in : Uncategorized , add a comment

Hello friends. If you missed it, here are the seven songs I completed in the span of about 10 days here at the Adam WarRock site:

Girl Comics
My Tea Party
Bastid
Bad Meaning Good
Quits
Whether Underground
Good 2Nite

Since I imagine there are some new people here, it’s worth noting that the TrackLog is comprised of songs that are meant to be rough, less-than-fully hatched ideas that allow me to keep writing and creating, and allow you to hear songs that I don’t really have the time (or the desire) to develop into fully fledged, real songs. It’s an “audio sketchbook,” and for that reason, it lacks the shine and polish that the final album will have. On a rare occasion, a song will be received so well that I’ll record a professional version of it (like “Ira Glass”), but mostly this is stuff that I post just to get it out of my system. Thank you to everyone who enjoys listening (I think it’s pretty fascinating to hear how much I’ve progressed as an emcee over the 46 tracks). And remember, TrackLog 50. I have a special song planned.

Schedule updates:Right now we’re planning on recording the album in early July; “Ira Glass” single release in mid-August; Album release date mid-September (tentative dates).
