This is how my songs are made. I think to myself, what am I into? And then I stand up and make a song about it. Even when I don’t feel like it lends itself to a song, I’ll force myself to just exercise that muscle. This is my philosophy. Everything can be a song. No idea is too stupid.

I’ve been watching Netflix’s new original programming show, House of Cards, pretty much in every waking moment of my free time since it debuted on Feb. 1. I’m a huge fan of politics, of David Fincher, and of The Ides of March (which HoC’s developer worked on as well). It’s an easy sell to me, watching a Southern House Majority Whip be a horrible person and succeed (at least so far).

But if you haven’t been keeping up with the news, Netflix released the entire season 1 (13 episodes) at once, so it’s been kind of a fun experience watching it, talking with friends and seeing where everyone is. When I sat down to record this song I had burned off 6 episodes of House of Cards. At the time of writing this post (y’know, the morning after I recorded it) I am now through episode 10. I kinda want all media to be like this from now on.

Also, any idea sounds good over a bobmastic Rick Ross-esque beat.
