TrackLog 56 – I Have Never Watched An Episode of Dr. Who In My Life July 1, 2010

Posted by A. WarRock in : Tracklog , trackback

I know I said no more new music, but I did this today just as mostly a joke. I think it’s pretty self-explanatory. I am almost 99% sure everything I say in this song is completely true.

Uhh..TARDIS! And other Who things!

Oh my god Eugene. This is replacing “I Do Believe We’re Naked” as my new theme song. (Well, until tomorrow at least)
I’m sharing this on FB.

2. Kid Golden Arm - July 1, 2010

OMG! This is badass! Huge props!! This NEEDS to go on your album!!

3. Rick - July 1, 2010

That is awesome and Euge I have a feeling you’d get a kick out of the new season which you can start from without needing anything else (I did)

4. adam ford - July 1, 2010

What a great way to start the day. I’m sure you’re going to get heaps of WhoGeeks coming in and correcting the inaccuracies, so I’ll resist.

My recommendation, if you’re interested, tho, is to start with the new stuff – Christopher Eggleston’s first series circa 2005 and work forward – and if you’re enthused, go back, but be prepared for some pretty shonky low-budget british scifi TV…

Tears … tears of joy on my face.

6. Steven H - July 1, 2010

I love this, and I love it for a (probably) unintentional reason, too – you could make the same “everybody recommends it, but holy shit that back catalog” observation about the Mountain Goats, led by one John Darnielle, who did the (excellent) guest vocals on Aesop Rock’s “Coffee”.

7. adam ford - July 1, 2010

my experience with darnielle is just to jump in and enjoy the ride

8. Ross Mack - July 1, 2010

Love it. And although I watched _some_ 70s Dr Who I have the same experience now. Especially because, for some reason, everyone assumes I watch it. Nice beats, sir.

9. Rebecca - July 1, 2010

SHARED! This song sums up my life.

10. Linh - July 1, 2010

I, uh, I’m just blown away by how you sound different, but still sound so good.

And as a pretty strong Whovian I enjoyed it, inaccuracies and all. :P

11. Brian S - July 2, 2010

Prediction: At some point, Euge is going to have a song that’s about how people can quit emailing and leaving comments trying to get him started on Doctor Who. I imagine saying you don’t know what Doctor Who is on the internet is akin to signing up for free spam in your inbox.

12. Lake Neuron - July 2, 2010

As much as I love “Doctor Who,” this was a pretty funny song.

13. wil - July 2, 2010

Amazing. Just amazing. I’m a massive Dr Who fan, but man, totally agree with the sentiment. In my case its Lost or Naruto, but the theme is universal.

BTW, you should just start watching from the start of the new series, ie the Matt Smith run. It’s only 13 episodes, and I’m sure any vaguely intelligent person can pick up enough what going on. Or just watch the David Tenant episode Blink.

14. DoctaWhoDat? - July 3, 2010

Hi, massive Who fan here and I like your song! (as others are saying, really about feeling ‘left out of the conversation,’ no??) There are one or two points I can’t understand the lyrics, would you or someone be kind enough to post them?

15. aesop rock - July 3, 2010

the TARDIS, for all intents and purposes, is the Doctor’s “spaceship”, though unlike a conventional ship, it can travel to any place, at any point in time (although it is known to occasionally act unpredictably.) From the outside, the TARDIS appears as a “Police Box”, or small police station that appears inconspicuous enough in most environments. The inside of the TARDIS is much larger than it appears from the outside – once inside it is actually a large, spaceship-like structure. Doctor Who is of a race of being known as the “Time Lords”, whose advanced technology yeilded the TARDIS. Time Lords are basically immortal aliens, which may explain your lack of any real connection to him, assuming you are human.

best,
aesop rock

I can attest that Euge is mostly human as I went to a pseudo-human law school w. him.
